Author Kathi Kern To
Visit WKU On March 28

Bowling Green, Ky.
- Kathi Kern, author of "Mrs. Stanton's Bible," will visit Western Kentucky University March 28.

Kern, an associate professor of History at the University of Kentucky, will speak on "Mrs. Stanton's Bible: Religion and the Woman's Rights Movement" at 8 p.m. at the Garrett Conference Center auditorium.

Kern's lecture and slide presentation is sponsored by Women's Studies and co-sponsored by Potter College and the History Department.

"Mrs. Stanton's Bible," published earlier this year, traces the impact of Elizabeth Cady Stanton's religious dissent on the suffrage movement at the turn of the century. Stanton is best remembered for organizing the Seneca Falls convention in 1848 where she called for women's right to vote. Her "Woman's Bible" in 1895 addressed another equality cause: women's liberation from religious oppression.
