WKU Hosting Regional Playground Safety School
June 11-14
Bowling Green, Ky. - Fifty Head Start staff members
from eight Southeastern states will be at Western Kentucky University
for the Region IV Playground Safety School June 11-14.
The school, part of the National Program for Playground Safety,
is sponsored by Training and Technical Assistance Services at
Western. It is designed for Head Start staff involved in planning
and maintaining safe playgrounds.
The school covers topics such as identifying the most common
playground problems, recognizing potential problems, preventing
playground injuries and the features of good playground design.
It will be led by Susan Hudson, principal of the National Playground
Safety School and educational director of the National Program
for Playground Safety.
The school will be at the College of Education and Behavioral
Sciences and will include outings to various school and park
playgrounds.
