WKU Students Win National FBLA-PBL Awards
Bowling Green, Ky. - Four students from Western Kentucky
University brought home national awards from the Phi Beta Lambda
Conference held in Orlando, Fla., July 4-7.
Leslie Bedo, a Bowling Green senior, placed first in impromptu
speaking.
Ryan Meredith, a Bowling Green senior, finished fifth
in economics.
Tommy O'Brien, an Elizabethtown senior, finished sixth
in marketing.
Jennie Sparks, a Bowling Green junior, placed ninth in
business communications.
The students competed against state representatives from across
the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda,
Guam, the Cayman Islands and Department of Defense schools worldwide.
The competition is part of a competitive events program sponsored
annually by FBLA-PBL, a professional association for students
pursuing business careers. Individuals, local chapters and state
teams compete in nearly 40 events representing a range of business,
career and leadership development activities.
