WKU Forensic Team Wins Indiana Tournament


Bowling Green, Ky.
- The William E. Bivin Forensic Society at Western Kentucky University won the individual sweepstakes and finished second in debate last weekend in Bloomington, Ind.

Western's 154 points were enough to win the individual events portion of the Indiana University Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament. Ohio State was second with 106.

In the debate sweepstakes, Western finished with 23 points, just behind St. Anselm's 25.

Individual results from the Jan. 26-27 tournament were:

Shadana Dickerson, an Adairville junior, first in individual sweepstakes, first in duo with Keith Blaser, third in duo with Margaret Au, second in prose and second in poetry.

Keith Blaser, a sophomore from Evansville, Ind., second in individual sweepstakes, first in duo with Shadana Dickerson, second in duo with Drew Allen, fourth in persuasive speaking and fifth in dramatic interpretation.

Amy Jones, a Morehead senior, third in individual sweepstakes, second in rhetorical criticism, third in persuasion, third in informative speaking and fourth in after-dinner speaking.

Phillip Wininger, a Bowling Green junior, first in rhetorical criticism, third in extemporaneous speaking, fifth in impromptu speaking and fifth in informative speaking.

David Laing, a Louisville junior, second in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Margaret Au, a freshman from Evansville, Ind., third in duo with Shadana Dickerson, fifth in prose and fifth in poetry.

Drew Allen, a freshman from Brentwood, Tenn., second in programmed oral interpretation, second in duo with Keith Blaser and sixth in duo with Katie Tyree.

Katie Tyree, a freshman from Plymouth, Ind., fourth in novice persuasion, fourth in duo with Corey Alderdice and sixth in duo with Drew Allen.

David Wilkins, a Bardstown junior, quarterfinals in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Corey Alderdice, a Water Valley freshman, fourth in duo with Katie Tyree.

Natalie Croney, a Hopkinsville freshman, sixth in novice poetry.
