Group Cycling Classes Begin At WKU'S Preston
Center
Bowling Green, Ky. - Members of the Preston Health &
Activities Center at Western Kentucky University have another
exercise option to help stay in shape and lose those holiday
pounds: X-treme Cycling, a type of indoor group cycling class.
"Group cycling classes have been very popular on other
campuses," said Guy Leahy, assistant director for health
and fitness at the Preston Center, "I believe Preston Center
members will find X-treme Cycling to be a welcome addition to
the selection of classes we offer.
One advantage of group cycling classes is variety, Leahy said.
"No two classes are the same. One day, you can imagine
cycling along the San Francisco waterfront, another day you could
be racing in the Tour de France."
X-treme Cycling uses music, lighting and videos to simulate cycling
outdoors. Participants control their own exercise intensity,
so classes are appropriate for all fitness levels. Eighteen
bikes are available for each class on a reservation basis. Reservations
are made at the Preston Center front desk. Class schedules are
posted in the Preston Center, or can be obtained by visiting
the Health and Fitness Lab.
