WKU Division Wins Honors At District Conference
Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University's Division
of Development and Alumni Relations received an Award of Excellence
for Total Educational Fund-Raising Programs at the the Council
for Advancement and Support of Education District III conference.
CASE includes alumni administrators, fund raisers, public relations
managers, publications editors and governmental relations officers.
Tom Hiles, WKU's vice president for Development and Alumni Relations,
said the goal of advancement professionals is to enhance their
institutions by bringing in support--be it in the form of money,
alumni loyalty, public esteem or new students. He said CASE
helps advance the cause of education by offering information
resources and training opportunities.
District III includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi,
North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
"The Award of Excellence was only given to three schools
in the third district," Hiles said. "The award
recognizes excellence in development programs, including annual
giving, major gifts and planned giving. It is a tribute to our
staff and our alumni and friends who support the University."
Award criteria include programs that can serve as models for
others; creativity, innovation and strategic resource management;
and overall impact of the fund-raising program on the entire
institution.
