Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University's Division of Institutional Advancement received several awards recently at the CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) Kentucky Conference.
The Division of Institutional Advancement, which includes the offices of development, alumni relations and university relations, received grand awards in five categories: total educational fund-raising programs; overall alumni relations programs; fund-raising projects for the President's Circle; fund-raising publications for "Investing in the Spirit" campaign case statement; and the television, video news releases, films and videotapes category for "Investing in the Spirit" campaign video.
Western also received an award of excellence in tabloids/newsletters for the "Investing in the Spirit" campaign newsletter; an award of excellence in feature story or series for stories on WKU's telescope project; and an award of merit in magazines for "Western Scholar" magazine.
CASE is an international association of education advancement officers, who include alumni administrators, fund raisers, public relations managers, publications editors and government relations officers. CASE Kentucky is a statewide organization for advancement officers in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
According to Tom Hiles, WKU's vice president for Institutional Advancement, the goal of advancement professionals is to enhance their institutions by bringing in support -- be it in the form of money, alumni loyalty, public esteem or new students. In turn, he said, CASE's purpose is to help advance the cause of education by offering information resources and training opportunities to aid members.
The awards were presented at the CASE Kentucky meeting Dec. 14 in Lexington.
