Author Stephanie Coontz To Speak At WKU On
Sept. 11
Bowling Green, Ky. - Stephanie Coontz, the author of
six books about changes in family life, will visit Western Kentucky
University on Sept. 11.
"Ozzie and Harriet Don't Live Here Any More: Coming to Terms
with America's Changing Families" will be the topic of her
lecture at 8 p.m. Sept. 11 at Grise Hall Auditorium. A book signing
will follow the presentation.
Coontz teaches family studies at The Evergreen State College
in Olympia, Wash. Her books on family history, gender roles and
family issues include "The Way We Never Were: American Families
and the Nostalgia Trap"; "The Way We Really Are: Coming
to Terms with America's Changing Families"; and "American
Families: A Multicultural Reader."
The visit by Coontz is part of the Fall 2001 Colloquia Series
sponsored by the Women's Studies Program Gail Martin Lecture
Series, the Rodes-Helm Lecture Series and the Campus Activity
Board.
