WKU'S Public Broadcasting, McDonald's To
Give Away Trees
Bowling Green, Ky. - In celebration of National Arbor
Day, the Public Broadcasting Service of Western Kentucky University
and 12 McDonald's restaurants in Kentucky and northern Tennessee
will give away free pine seedlings on Friday, April 27.
Trees conserve energy, beautify neighborhoods and bring songbirds
close by. Trees also clean the air, keep the atmosphere in balance
and help improve property values. Planting and care instructions
will be provided with the Virginia pine seedlings that are native
to this region.
More than 12,000 seedlings will be distributed at McDonald's
in Bowling Green, Franklin, Scottsville, Smiths Grove, Cave City,
Tompkinsville and Portland, Tenn. They are free while supplies
last.
This is the 11th consecutive year of the joint project between
the locally-owned McDonald's and Western's Public Broadcasting
Service. Stations include WKYU-FM in Bowling Green, WDCL-FM
in Somerset, WKPB-FM in Henderson/Owensboro, WKUE-FM in Elizabethtown
and WKYU-PBS Channel 24 in Bowling Green.
