Burt To Speak At 14th
Annual Robert Penn Warren Symposium
Bowling Green, Ky. - John Burt, professor of English at Brandeis
University and literary executor for Robert Penn Warren, will
be the featured speaker at Western Kentucky University's 14th
annual Robert Penn Warren Symposium.
Burt will speak at 2 p.m. April 29 in WKU's Garrett Conference
Center. His topic is "Start Again! Robert Penn Warren on
the Shape of His Own Poetic Career," said Mary Ellen Miller,
professor of English and Center coordinator. "John is a
member of our advisory group and a distinguished literary scholar,"
she said.
A book signing and reception will follow the presentation. The
event is free and open to the public.
Warren, a native of Todd County, Ky., was named the first poet
laureate of the United States in 1986. He died in 1989.
