Three WKU Students Honored In Hearst Competition
Bowling Green, Ky. - Three Western Kentucky University students
have been honored in the 41st annual William Randolph Hearst
Foundation's Journalism Awards Program.
Thomas Cordy, a junior from Huntsville, Ala., finished
10th and received a $500 award for picture story or series. Daniel
Wallace, a senior from Louisville, finished 16th in the third
and final Hearst photo contest.
Jacob Bennett, a senior from Brandenburg, finished 20th
in personality/profile writing.
After five of six writing competitions, Western was ninth. Final
results in the Hearst competition will be announced later this
month. Western finished first overall in the broadcasting portion
of the contest and tied for second in photojournalism.
