Five WKU Students Win At State Business Competition
Bowling Green, Ky. - Five members of Western Kentucky University's
Phi Beta Lambda chapter won first-place awards recently at a
state leadership conference.
Western students placed in the top four in 11 of the 13 events
April 8-9 at the Kentucky Phi Beta Lambda Spring Leadership Conference
in Louisville.
First-place winners were Kevin Hughes, a Paris senior,
finance; Ryan Meredith, a Bowling Green senior, economics;
Tommy O'Brien, an Elizabethtown senior, marketing; Jennifer
Sparks, a Bowling Green sophomore, business communication;
Leslie Bedo, a Bowling Green junior, impromptu speaking.
Those five students and Jeremy Klauburg, a Paducah sophomore,
will represent Western at the group's National Leadership Conference
in July at Orlando, Fla. Klauburg finished second in computer
concepts.
Other results were Amanda Gaudette, a Radcliff junior,
third in accounting; Sonya Robertson, a Columbia senior,
third in management; Chad Parnell, a Columbia senior,
fourth in business communication; Kristina Knight, a senior
from Lebanon, Tenn., fourth in computer applications; Robin
Fulkerson, an Elizabethtown senior, fourth in marketing;
Adam Howard, a Florence senior, fourth in Mr. Future Business
Executive. The business decision making team of Hughes, Meredith
and O'Brien finished second.
Selina Skaggs, a Bardstown senior, received the Dr. Rita
Davis Scholarship from Phi Beta Lambda's Professional Division.
