WKU Forensic Team
Wins Two Tournaments
Bowling Green, Ky. - The William E. Bivin Forensic Society
at Western Kentucky University took top honors last weekend in
two tournaments.
Six team members traveled to Manchester, N.H., where they won
first place in each event entered and first place overall in
the Jack Lynch Invitational Forensics Tournament hosted by Saint
Anselm College. Other teams competing included Old Dominion University,
Suffolk University and Southern Maine University.
Eight team members, meanwhile, competed at Owensboro Community
College and claimed first place over Asbury College, Northern
Kentucky University, Berea College and Belmont University.
Individual results from the Jack Lynch tourney are:
Amy Jones, a Morehead senior, first in persuasive
speaking, first in informative speaking, first in after-dinner
speaking and third in triathlon.
Keith Blaser, a sophomore from Evansville, Ind., first
in prose interpretation, first in poetry interpretation, first
in dramatic interpretation and second place in triathlon.
David Wilkins, a Bardstown junior, first in impromptu
speaking, first in Lincoln-Douglas debate and fourth in persuasive
speaking.
David Laing, a Louisville junior, quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas
debate and second-place speaker award in Lincoln-Douglas debate.
Kim Pedigo, a sophomore from Hendersonville, Tenn., fourth
in informative speaking and semifinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate.
Raegan Gibson, a freshman from Evansville, Ind., second
in informative speaking.
Individual results from the Owensboro tourney are:
Corey Alderdice, a freshman from Water Valley, third in
after-dinner speaking, fourth in poetry, second in impromptu,
first in impromptu counseling, second in prose and first in pentathlon.
Margaret Au, a freshman from Evansville, Ind., second
in rhetorical criticism.
Vincent Bonetti, a freshman from Collierville, Tenn.,
first in duo interpretation, second in poetry, first in dramatic
interpretation and top novice in prose.
Kelli Giorgio, a Bowling Green sophomore, sixth in duo
interpretation, third in poetry and fifth in prose.
Andy Miladin, a Shelbyville freshman, fifth in after-dinner
speaking.
Tony Milner, an Erlanger freshman, first in duo interpretation
and sixth in dramatic interpretation.
Alisa Ponananta, a Florence junior, first in informative
and fourth in prose.
Eric Rogers, a Cave City sophomore, second in persuasion,
second in informative, first in rhetorical criticism, second
in impromptu counseling and third in pentathlon.
Melissa Vincent, a Bowling Green freshman, first in after-dinner
speaking, first in persuasion, sixth in duo interpretation, fourth
in impromptu, first in programmed oral interpretation, top novice
impromptu counseling and second in pentathlon.
