WKU Plans Ribbon Cutting For New Beef Barn
Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University's Department
of Agriculture will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday (Nov.
21) at a new beef barn on the University farm.
The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at the barn. Scheduled to participate
in the ribbon cutting are Agriculture Commissioner Billy Ray
Smith, House Speaker Jody Richards, Rep. Roger Thomas and Dr.
Luther Hughes, WKU associate vice president for Enrollment Management.
The 100-foot by 40-foot facility, which cost about $145,000,
will be used as a teaching area for students interested in livestock
and livestock handling. The barn includes a cattle working area,
a conference room, a storage room and other areas for livestock.

Note to editors/news directors: To get to the new beef
barn, take Elrod Road to the rear entrance of the farm. The entrance
is the first driveway on the left past the L.D. Brown Agricultural
Exposition Center and has a sign directing visitors to the composting
facility at the Agriculture Research and Education Complex.
