WKU Photojournalism Students Place
In Contest
Bowling Green, Ky. -- Two Western Kentucky University
students have won honors in the second of three photojournalism
competitions in the 40th annual William Randolph Hearst Foundation's
Journalism Awards Program.
Jonathan Kirshner, a senior from Santa Cruz, Calif., placed
fifth in the competition, which covered sports and news photography.
He received a $600 scholarship.
Mark Weber, a senior from West Chester, Ohio, placed sixth
in the competition and received a $500 scholarship.
Western's School of Journalism and Broadcasting will receive
matching awards.
Western is second in overall points behind the University of
Florida with one photojournalism competition remaining. The final
winners will be named in April.
