Effective in summer 2006, students must earn a "C" or better in any Modern Language course included among those that count toward the major or minor.  This policy will apply to all students who submit a degree program after the end of the spring 2006 semester.

Language Minors

French Minor (30 hours)

The minor in French requires a minimum of 30 semester hours. Some of the required course work may be accomplished through CLEP or AP credit. Study abroad is strongly recommended.

Courses at the 100-level and above may be counted toward the minor, including:
French 101 - Elementary French I
French 102 - Elementary French II
French 201 - Intermediate French I
French 202 - Intermediate French II
French 320 - Grammar & Compostion or French 420 Advanced Grammar and Stylistics
French 321 - Conversation or French 421 Adavanced French Conversation
French 323 - Civilization & Culture
Choose three courses at the 300- or 400-level for a total of 30 hours (including the required courses).

German Minor (30 hours)

The minor in German requires a minimum of 30 semester hours. Some of the required course work may be accomplished through CLEP or AP credit.  Study abroad is strongly recommended.

Required core courses:
GERM 101, 102 (or equivalent) (6 credits)
GERM 201, 202  (6 credits)
GERM 330 German Composition and Conversation  (3 credits)
GERM 335 Contemporary Culture and Civilization (3 credits)
(Total credit hours in required core courses  18)

Elective courses: Choose at least four German courses (12 credit hours) at the 300 or 400 level for a total (including the core courses) of 30 or more credit hours.

Spanish Minor (30 hours)

Thirty semester hours are required in this minor. Some of the required course work may be accomplished through CLEP or AP credit.  Study abroad is strongly recommended.

Required core courses:
SPAN 101 and 102 (or equivalent) (6 credits)
SPAN 201 and 202 (6 credits)
SPAN 370 Spanish Conversation (3 credits)
SPAN 371 Spanish Composition and Grammar (3 credits)
SPAN 372 Spanish American Civilization and Culture or
SPAN 373 Spanish Civilization and Culture (3 credits)
SPAN 374 Literature and Culture of Spain or
SPAN 376 Literature and Culture of Spanish America (3 credits) (Total credit hours in required core courses  24)

Elective courses: Choose at least two Spanish courses (6 credits) at the 300 or 400 level for a total (including the required courses) of 30 or more credit hours.
