417: Minor in Mathematics - 2011 to present

A Minor in Mathematics (Ref. No. 417) requires a minimum of 24 semester hours.  The requirements are:

  1. MATH 136, MATH 137, MATH 237  (12 hours)
  2. Either MATH 307 or MATH 370  (3 hours)
  3. At least nine hours from MATH 3XX*, MATH 4XX*, or STAT 301**.

*Students may not count MATH 304, 308, 403, 411, 413, 421, or 490 toward the minor.  MATH 398 may count toward the minor only if the student completes MATH 498.

** Students may not count both MATH 382 and STAT 301 toward the minor.

At least one-third of the course requirements in the minor must be earned at WKU.  You must have a GPA of at least 2.0 in the minor courses and in the minor courses completed at WKU.

2015 Math Symposium Dates Announced

The 35th Annual Mathematics Symposium will be held November 13th and 14th in Snell Hall on WKU's main campus. This year's keynote speaker is Professor Henry Segerman of Oklahoma State University. Students are encouraged to submit abstracts.

Robin Ayers Receives the 2015 Spirit of Western Award

At the 2015 WKU President's Convocation, Robin Ayers was named the recipient of the 14th Spirit of Western Award.

Math Major and Professor Published in the MAA College Mathematics Journal

Math major and Math Ambassador Kathleen Bell, along with Shania Polson at the University of Alabama, and WKU Professor Tom Richmond, have been published in the prestigious MAA College Mathematics Journal.
