Support M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan: Faculty and Staff

Are you a WKU faculty or staff member who would like to get involved in M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan and support the Class of 2018? We appreciate your involvement!

Participating in any of the M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan activities below provides the opportunity for you to:

  • Welcome the newest members of the Hilltopper family to WKU
  • Engage new students in meaningful conversations about success in college
  • Educate new students about your Department or College's degree programs, organizations, and services
  • Gain service experience by actively participating in student retention efforts (students who participate in M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan have been shown to be retained at a higher rate, and graduate on-time at a higher rate).

Assist with Move-In

Saturday, August 16, 2014: 1-9 PM

Sunday, August 17, 2014: 8 AM - 4 PM

Looking for a great opportunity to leave a lasting first impression? Volunteer to assist during M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan move-in! If you would like to volunteer for one or both move-in days, register your group by completing the online registration form. Additional information will be sent to move-in volunteers the week prior to M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan to the email address provided. Move-in registration forms will be accepted through Monday, August 11, 2014.

M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan Presenter

Tuesday, August 19th and/or Wednesday, August 20th

Session Times:

  • 10:00 - 11:15 am
  • 1:30 - 2:45 pm
  • 3:00 - 4:15 pm

Serving as a M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan presenter provides a great opportunity to welcome the Class of 2018 to WKU, establish connections with students, share your personal insights or experiences on the college transition, and educate new students about your department or office's services, all while providing service to the University!

Sessions:

Tuesday, August 19: DiverCity*

*"Academic Expectations" and "Good Lovin' with the Green Dot" are also Tuesday sessions; please do not register to present "DiverCity" if you are already scheduled to present either of the two aforementioned sessions. Thank you for your service!

Should you choose to volunteer to serve as a session presenter, please know that all session content will be provided to you (classrooms are assigned).  And in exchange for your service, you'll receive a free meal pass to use at the Fresh Food Company and a free M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan T-shirt.

Big Red's Blitz

Thursday, August 21, 2014

Choose to "get off the bench" and engage in the Bowling Green community during Big Red's Blitz! Big Red's Blitz is M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan's community service event, scheduled to take place Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 9 am - 3 pm (beginning at Centennial Mall). As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to select your project site and complete three hours of community service, working alongside Big Red, M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan participants, and current students. Transportation to project sites, lunch, and a FREE t-shirt are provided! Don't miss this amazing opportunity to positively impact the community, role model citizenship, and form connections with WKU students; become a Big Red Blitzer today! Registrations will be accepted until Monday, August 18, 2014!

WK&U Street Festival

Tuesday, August 19, 2014, 4:30 - 7:00 pm, Centennial Mall

WK&U is a street festival that celebrates the uniqueness of the WKU community and strives to help new students "find their niche." Free food will be provided. At WK&U, representatives from your Department or College will have the opportunity to showcase their talents and share information about degree programs, organizations, and services. Past performances have included skits, poetry readings, dances, and songs! To register to participate, fill out the online form.
