Dr. Tim Hawkins

Dr. Hawkins has published articles on opportunism in buyer–supplier relationships, performance-based contracting, government contracting, and on electronic reverse auctions in scholarly publications such as: the Journal of Supply Chain Management, the International Journal of Logistics Management, Industrial Marketing Management, the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Business Ethics, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, the Air Force Journal of Logistics, the Journal of Marketing Channels, and the Journal of Public Procurement. His current research interests include supplier performance management, electronic reverse auctions, procurement ethics, buyer-supplier relationships, strategic sourcing, services procurement, and supply management public policy.
Dr. Hawkins retired from the U.S. Air Force and joined the Marketing Department in 2014. He brings 20 years of experience in government sourcing, supply chain management, and academia. Dr. Hawkins worked as an intern at NCR Corporation’s Global Procurement Group in Dayton, OH. As a warranted contracting officer, he selected and hired the Air Force’s advertising agency – a $350M account featured in the Wall Street Journal. He commanded a contracting squadron in Kuwait supporting OPERATIONS IRAQI and ENDURING FREEDOM, and later served in Afghanistan. Most recently, he directed the Strategic Purchasing graduate program at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
