Scholarships & Graduate Assistantships Available from the LME Program
Students must complete and submit an application form
to be eligible for the LME scholarships. Applications for the next
academic year must be submitted by May 1 and are available online at
http://www.wku.edu/lme/SCHOFORM.PDF
Sarah Gilbert Garris Scholarship (Undergraduate/ Graduate): Each spring semester Garris scholarships are awarded
for the following academic year. The scholarships are applied to tuition
and vary depending upon the number of eligible applicants. Special
consideration is given to students in Library Media Education. Recipients
must be residents of Kentucky
and graduates of Kentucky
high schools. Grade point standing is not the only consideration. Other
factors are good citizenship, financial need, willingness to work, and demonstrated
potential for academic success. Beginning freshmen may be considered for
the scholarship.
Sara
Elizabeth Tyler Scholarship (Graduate): Each spring semester Tyler scholarships are awarded
for the following academic year. The scholarships are applied to tuition
and vary depending upon the number of eligible applicants.. Recipients
must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA.
Evelyn Thurman Third District Media Association
Scholarship (Graduate):
The Evelyn Thurman Third District Media Association Scholarship is
awarded to a part-time or full-time graduate student majoring in Library
Media Education from the Third District region including Allen, Barren,
Butler, Caverna Ind., Cumberland, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalf, Muhlenberg,
Ohio, Simpson, Todd, and Warren Counties. The amount of the scholarship award is $500 per
academic year (fall and spring semesters). Recipients must maintain an

Evelyn Thurman Scholarship
Graduate Assistantships Available from WKU: A limited number of graduate assistantships are available each
academic year in the Department of Special Instructional Programs and
other units of the University. Students must be full-time. Information
and application for a graduate assistantship may be obtained from the
Office of Graduate Studies.
