WKU Department of Music is pleased to host String Explosion!

Location: Fine Arts Center & Music Rehearsal Hall, WKU Campus

String Explosion! offers one week of fun-filled musical training in string performance for students ages 4 through high school. Camp students are under the artistic supervision of the faculty of the WKU Pre-College Strings Program and outstanding guest music teachers and conductors from throughout the region. The camp will conclude Saturday morning with the Finale Concert in Van Meter Auditorium.

Young Twinklers Session (Ages 4-up) $75
Orchestra (Elementary, Middle, High School) $125
The cost of the camp includes a camp t-shirt, music and instructor fees.
Register by June 10 to ensure a camp t-shirt.
9:00 - 11:30 a.m. - YOUNG TWINKLERS
The Twinklers session is geared for beginning and young violin and cello students ages 4-10. Students will work in groups divided by playing level. This session is perfect for students that are studying in Suzuki Books 1 and 2. This session will also include a class for BRAND NEW BEGINNERS! The session will include fun games, lessons, snacks and performance time.
9:00 - 3:00 p.m. - ORCHESTRA SESSION
The Orchestra Session is open to violin, viola, cello and double bass students, elementary through high school, who have played for at least one year and can read music. Students will be divided into orchestras based on age and skill level. The schedule will include variety of activities including string orchestra, sectionals, masterclasses, lessons and outdoor games. Lunch will be included daily at the Downing Student Union.
The final performance will be on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Van Meter Auditorium (Click #2 on the WKU Virtual Tour Map.)
