Lifelong Learning

Would you like to teach for Lifelong Learning?

Do you have a skill or talent that others often ask you to share? Do you enjoy teaching? If so, you may be interested in teaching for the WKU Lifelong Learning program.

What is Lifelong Learning?

Through experience and education, individuals continually learn and adapt to life and their environment. The Lifelong Learning office is part of WKU's Continuing and Professional Development unit within WKU Extended Learning & Outreach (DELO) and is committed to providing this community with learning opportunities for every age group and in a variety of interest areas. We partner with University faculty members and departments, as well as outside organizations and individuals, to provide this region with enrichment opportunities for every age group and in a variety of interest areas. Lifelong Learning facilitates the development of the program from beginning to end through assistance in: determining interest/need, program design, marketing and promotion, handling registration, and coordinating location, catering, and parking.

What courses are needed?

Lifelong Learning is for everyone, so course possibilities are endless. Non-credit enrichment programs are not limited to but frequently fall into one of the following categories:

  • Personal enrichment (art, music, literature, theatre, history, local interests, political/government, science/math, finance, language, hands-on activities, etc.)
  •  Youth programs
  • Online courses
  • Test preparation

Are instructors paid?

Because our instructors are experts in their subject area, they are typically compensated for sharing their knowledge with others.

Who would the audience be?

Lifelong learners seek out and enjoy gaining new knowledge in a classroom or applied setting. Most classes are held at the Knicely Conference Center but other locations can also be considered.

When are courses taught?

Lifelong Learning courses are not tied to the University semester schedule and can run during the day or in the evenings. They can be one-time offerings or presented in a series.

Thank you for your interest in teaching for Lifelong Learning. We are always eager to launch new classes. Please complete our proposal form and let us hear your ideas.
