E-Journal Selection Guidelines
Electronic Information Resources Committee

- The e-journal is available for a period of at least a year.
- Requests to link to freely accessible e-journals (or free online
w/print subscription) should be forwarded to the EIRC chair by
the appropriate subject librarian with a brief justification.
NO EIRC FORM REQUIRED.
- Requests for funded e-journal subscriptions must be submitted
by the appropriate subject librarian to the EIRC chair on the
Electronic Information Resource Request Form with justification
and funding scenario for review and recommendation by the EIRC.
- Approved e-journal titles will be added to the Libraries’
E-Journals web page.
- Only WKU-funded e-journal titles and links will be added to
TOPCAT. Exceptions will be considered on an individual basis.
- Should a member or the EIRC chair receive a complaint or appeal
from any outside party to reverse, rescind or otherwise modify
a decision reached by the EIRC regarding those materials assigned
to its jurisdiction, the EIRC Chair will collect the necessary
information and present the issue to the Dean of Libraries for
a ruling in the matter. Upon the rendering of the Dean's decision,
the EIRC chair shall communicate that decision to the appellants,
the EIRC and any other persons deemed appropriate by the Dean
of Libraries.
