Reading a Photograph

 Instructions:

  • Use the photographs of the State Street High School Senior Class Excursion, ca. 1929 and a rural school. Have students discuss and answer the questions below. Students may also use the worksheet with other historic photograph.
  • Have students use personal photographs to create a photographic essay focusing on a special event in their lives such as their birth, birth of a sibling, birthday, first day of school, new home, or new school. Using the photographs, have students do a oral presentation of the event explaining why they chose the event and the photographs. Have students explain the importance of the photographs in creating their essay.
