Exploring Pioneer Travel in Warren County


Age:
4th grade and above

Objectives:

  • To understand pioneer travel in Warren County.

Preparation:

Lesson should be conducted after students have visited First American Roads, Rails, and Rivers Online and examined travel during the pioneer days.

Instructions:

Ask students to write a short story about an imaginary trip they took on the Cumberland Trace. Students should address departure and destination points, trip duration, and any significant events. They can illustrate the tale with drawings that describe scenes in the story.
