Letter written by Elizabeth Cox Underwood

Letter
Presidential Death
Manuscripts Collection MSS 58, I, 1, 7, #64
Item/Collection Note: Writing on July 19,1850, from her Bowling Green, Kentucky home, to her husband Joseph Rogers Underwood, serving in the U. S. Senate, Elizabeth Cox Underwood comments about the transferral of the presidency.

"I have not yet learned the changes consequent on Genl. Taylor's death except the inauguration of Mr. Filmore. I suppose there will be removal among the cabinet officers. Any prospect of a change of place for a certain gentleman, who claims close kin with E. C. Underwood? "
