Note: English novelist William Pett Ridge on March 12, 1912,
writes Cale |

|
Young
Rice, Louisville, Kentucky, thanking Rice for the copy of
his poems that he sent. Ridge also comments about the recent
ship disaster.
"Hodden Williams has a capital sketch in The British
Weekly of old Captain Smith who went down with the Titanic.
About 300,000 £ has been collected here for the widows
and orphans. I do not remember any occurrence in my time,
that has made the public mind shiver, to the same extent."
