Operated by the National Archives, this site provides access to some Civil War photographs, information about how to research Civil War records, the procedure for requesting copies from the National Archives, and access to selected Civil War records through the Archival Research Catalog.
 






Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System
This National Park Service website provides access to information about soldiers and sailors who served in the Civil War, regimental histories, online access to the names of soldiers buried at Poplar Grove National Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia, information about prisoners at Fort McHenry and Andersonville, battle histories, and information about servicemen who won the Congressional Medal of Honor during the Civil War.

Available online as part of the American Memory Project, this web site includes 1,118 photographs. Subjects include military personnel, preparations for battle, and battle after-effects as well as photos of both Confederate and Union officers and images of enlisted men.
