Standing at Stud
Kentucky Library Broadside Collection #257
This 1937 broadside advertises the stud services of Teak My Dare, an outstanding saddle stallion. The horse’s pedigree is charted for interested breeders. R.M. Milliken of Middleton, Kentucky, in Simpson County, also offered the services of a mule, Billie Lackey. Simpson County was known for many years as the world’s second largest mule market. Beginning with its 100th anniversary in 1939 festival was added to Mule Day activities. This festival was held in Franklin. Unfortunately it did not survive World War II.
