Tim Lee Carter

Through donating his papers, Congressman Tim Lee Carter taught us about the work of U. S. Representatives. Despite his strong support of the military, Carter may be best known as an early advocate of U.S. military withdrawal from Vietnam. As a physician, health care and hospitalization legislation were foremost among his interests. A Monroe County native, Republican Tim Lee Carter served from Kentucky's Fifth District from 1964 1980. For more biographical information and a detailed listing of the 938 boxes of congressional papers, check out our inventory.
