KERA
Assessment Tools
(CATS & KIRIS)
- Nation's
Report Card (National Assessment of Educational Progress)
- "The
Nation's Report Card, the National Assessment of Educational
Progress (NAEP), is the only nationally representative
and continuing assessment of what America's students
know and can do in various subject areas. Since 1969,
assessments have been conducted periodically in reading,
mathematics, science, writing, history, geography, the
arts, and other fields. By making information on student
performance -- and instructional factors related to
that performance -- available to policymakers at the
national, state, and local levels, NAEP is an integral
part of our nation's evaluation of the condition and
progress of education."
- The
Kentucky Department of Education maintains many links to
CATS
(Commonwealth Accountability Testing System), the
test implemented by
Kentucky which replaced KIRIS (Kentucky Instructional
Results Information System) in 1998. The
links include the following:
- Accountability System
- KIRIS Report - Gender and Race Differences
- CATS Validity and Reliability Studies
- Scoring Guides for Parents
- Instructional Resources
- Curriculum Documents and Resources
- Literacy
- Student & Family Support Resources
- Home Schooling In Kentucky
- The Council's Mission, through leadership, advocacy, and
service, assists chief state school officers and their organizations
in achieving the vision of an American
education system that enables all children to succeed in
school, work, and life.
