Names - Date Built - begun ca. 1937, completed 1940 Date Razed - 1975 Cost of Construction - $50,000 Architects - J.M. Ingram Namesake - Named for the Music Department. History - The three story building measured approximately 81 feet x 120 feet. Auditoriums were located on the first and second floors and seated 200 people. The building was located south of the Physical Education Building. The 1st floor was used for band, orchestra, and other instrumental activities. The 2nd floor was used for vocal activities and the 3rd floor was used for theory classes. The building was razed in 1975 because “it is uneconomical to bring it to up-to-date standards.” ["Building Projects Continue," August, 26, 1975] Additions - 1958 - $30,000 used for renovations; new roof, all floors received new tile, new entrance was added, all interior was re-decorated, new practice rooms added Researched and written by Jenna Hawkins, 2008. |
