| James Woodward, Class of 1959, shared the following story with the University Archivist by phone on May 18, 2009. About one month or
six weeks after arriving at Western I needed to get a job and found one
driving for Yellow Cab. One Saturday I was in my cab waiting for a call,
when one came in. I was told to go down to Norman's, the clothing store,
which is gone now but it was down on the square to pick up a package and
make a delivery. They said the package had been paid for and that I was
to collect the fee for the taxi. I drove over to the address on Clay Street
to a building with a paved driveway and a parking lot in the back. Pauline
answered the door and I told her I was delivering a package from Norman's.
She turned and called up the stairs and said, "Who's got a package
from Norman's
