- Census
of Agriculture. (Quinquennial) 1840-
- Provides
a periodic statistical analysis of the framing, ranching, and related
activities in the United States. Data are also available for regions,
states, and counties. The library has this in print version and, since
1987, in CD-ROM as well. Data from the 1982, 1987, and 1992 censuses

of Housing. 1940-
- Provides
data collected in conjunction with the Census of Population (http://www.census.gov/main/www/cen1990.html).
Find residential finance and inventory change data. The American Housing
Survey (http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/ahs.html)
provides additional information such as neighborhood quality, energy-related
items, and detailed financial characteristics.
- Census
of Population. (Decennial) 1790-
- Provides
the most detailed analysis for the nation as a whole, individual states,
counties, and local areas. Find population totals, income data, ancestry
information, educational attainment data, and more from these reports.
The library has this in print version for early censuses and for the
1990 census, both print and CD-ROM versions. This data may be found
through the Census Lookup Service and the Data Access Maps at the Census

- Economic
Censuses. (Quinquennial)
- Provides
detailed data about the nation s economy, from the national to the local
level. Censuses in this category include Construction Industries, Manufactures,
Mineral Industries, Retail Trade, Service Industries, Transportation,
and Wholesale Trade. The origin dates of these titles vary. The library
has these in print version and, since 1987, in CD-ROM as well. The 1992

The
print versions of census material are located on the ground floor
of Helm library. The CD-ROMs are located in the Electronic Reference
Area of the Reference Center on the first floor of Helm Library. You
may have to ask that the cartridge for the six-disc player be changed.

- Statistical
Abstract of the United States.
C 3.134 (Annual)
- The standard
summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization
of the U.S. Data are mostly for the U.S., states, regions, and metropolitan
statistical areas. It is an excellent source to determine what types
of data are available and for finding citations to primary sources for
obtaining a further detailed analysis. Holdings available from 1879.
The most recent edition of this title and the CD-ROM versions are located

and City Data Book.

- A Statistical

- Historical
Statistics of the United States.
- A compilation
of significant historical data from colonial times to 1970. Data are
based on the various censuses that were conducted (C3.134/2:H62). These
volumes do not have local data. A commercially produced product with
the same title covers through 1990 and is located in the Reference Center,
Helm, 1st floor (HA 214 .D63 1993). Harvard makes available Historical,
Social, Economic and Demographic Data From the US Decennial Census,
1790 to 1860 at http://icg.harvard.edu/census/.
- Regional
Economic Information System.
- A CD-ROM
produced by the Commerce Department that contains data for states, counties,
and metropolitan statistical areas. Data are available for many years.

- Consolidated
Federal Funds Report.

District Data Book.

KY/COMMERCE (Annual)
- This
publication contains, among other data, income and population statistics

- Resources
for Economic Development.
KY/COMMERCE
- Available
for all Kentucky counties or county seats. These "industrial resources"
give a general statistical summary of the area, including health facilities,
transportation, labor market information, and population. They are updated
biennially.
- BRADD
Data Book.
KY/BRADD (Irregular)
- The Data
Book provides summary statistics, based primarily on Census data for
the counties and major cities in the Barren River Area Development District.

- The American
Statistics Index, a Congressional Information Service indexing and abstracting
service, located in Government Documents Reference, Helm Library ground
floor, is the single best index for locating statistical information.
This index allows subject and geographic area searching. Recent editions
have included addresses for Internet accessible statistical information.
ASI is also available as part of our LexisNexis
Statistical subscription.
- Monthly
Catalog of U.S. Government Publications.
- The Monthly
Catalog (MoCat) is the most comprehensive index to government publications.
This index is located in the Reference Center on the 1st floor of Helm
Library. The library also subscribes to a commercially produced web
version that includes hyperlinks to data, Impact/ACCESS
WebPAC,(tm) from Auto-Graphics. Coverage in this index
is from July 1976. It is accessible from the Electronic Reference Area,
any of the computer labs on campus, or through WKUNet, the campus wide
information system. MoCat is also available at the Home Page of the

indexes federal web sites with statistical information. The sources
pointed to from this site may (or may not) have state and county data

Statistical
- LexisNexis
Statistical provides statistical surveys, charts, and tables produced
by federal, state, and intergovernmental agencies, professional and
trade organizations, commercial publishers, independent research organizations,
and universities. It also includes the online version of the American
Statistics Index (ASI). This database is available on campus via the
campuswide information system, WKUNet, and off-campus via the proxy
server.
