     In the follow up to his Oscar-nominated crime drama Animal Kingdom, David Michôd mines Australian cinema’s fascination with dystopia for a unique take on the post-apocalyptic road movie. A decade after a global economic collapse, loner Eric (Guy Pearce) attempts to navigate the outback on a mysterious mission. When a trio of robbers steals his car and leaves behind Rey (played by Twilight’s Robert Pattinson), the wounded brother of their leader, Eric forces the young thief into a quest to reclaim the vehicle. As Eric catches up the thieves, he must decide whether to conform to the fallen world’s cycle of violence or cling to the last remnants of humanity that his bond with Rey has revealed.
