The Leadership Studies Certificate Program provides an interdisciplinary academic program through which students can enhance their understanding of leadership theory and practice. The academic requirements offer students a common basic curriculum of leadership theory (Lead 200) and practical experience (Lead 400). Additionally, the program allows students to choose three courses from a broad interdisciplinary selection of courses.

The Leadership Studies Program helps direct participating students toward specific interdisciplinary leadership academic curricula and leadership practice which are reorganized by awarding the students a certificate in Leadership Studies at the completion of their baccalaureate degrees.

The Leadership Studies Program does not supplant the students’ academic major/minor courses of study; it supplements those programs with additional work in leadership theories issues regarding ethical and social responsibility, human relations and interpersonal skills, and critical thinking and decision making skills.

The Leadership Studies Program will provide special lectures, workshops, seminars, and interactions with visiting guest leaders who are renown in their fields.  In addition, the Leadership Studies Program will develop a series of special opportunities for participants to share leadership activities among themselves and with other leaders both inside and outside WKU.
