The Kentucky Highschool Speech League
Senior High State Information
KHSSL provides regional and state tournaments to Kentucky. In order to attend the state tournament, students must qualify at their regional tournament. As noted in the Handbook, regional tournaments are hosted in early February. Any person who qualifies at the regional tournament, or who is entered in the regional tournament and is already pre-qualified via an invitational tournament earlier in the year must attend the state tournament in March. We recommend you register for the state tournament immediately after your regional tournament, as your entry is determined there.
As your school competes throughout the year, students who place at a tournament may be listed as "pre-qualified"
for the state tournament, in accordance with pages 42-45 in the Handbook.
A school's pre-qualification information is available only to that school's coach.
Once a school pre-qualifies it's first student, that school's coach will be emailed a unique password.
This password allows that coach to log in to the Pre-qualifier page below in order to retreive their
school's student list. If you do not have a password, you do not have any pre-qualified students. Should
you misplace your password, please email 
. As a reminder, tournament
directors should download the report form and submit it to the League office ASAP after their tournament.
A note concerning the pre-qualification list: Only students having pre-qualified at a sanctioned tournament are eligible to be exempt from regionals due to illness or a dire emergency.
