View In 1927, an eight-room schoolhouse was built at Richardsville. It was lit with electricity and had one gas jet in the hall on the first floor. Constructed the same year, the Richardsville and Hadley schools were almost identical. By 1932-33, Richardsville offered a four-year course of study in high school work. View Before the Richardsville gymnasium was finished, athletes played basketball on an outside court. Built in 1936, the gymnasium had no electricity until 1940. Prior to this time, dynamos (generators) were used to power the building. The gym had a box platform stage on the first floor. View The school's three-story, 15-classroom addition (left), made of Alabama stone was designed by architect J.M. Ingram. Students moved into the new addition on February 23, 1948. The frame schoolhouse was sold at auction and replaced with the gymnasium shown in this photograph (right). View The Sand Hill School, built in 1928, was a four-room schoolhouse with no electricity. It's September 3, 1928 opening began with the singing of "America" followed by several sacred songs, Scripture reading and the Lord's Prayer.
