The Kentucky Folklife Festival will be held September 15, 16, and 17
3 days of food, music, and culture
This
September, Kentucky art and folk culture will meet once again in downtown
Frankfort. For over 14 years the Kentucky Folklife Program, part of both
the Kentucky Arts Council and the Kentucky Historical Society, has strived
to educate and inform Kentuckians of the rich array of traditional art forms
practiced vibrantly throughout our state today. Since 1997, the Kentucky
Folklife Festival has been the program's premiere educational outreach effort,
where collected research results in a glimpse of the expressive folk culture
alive throughout the state today. This September's celebration of Kentucky's
rich cultural heritage will once again provide thousands of visitors, and
over 10,000 school children, with a unique opportunity to sample the diversity
of the state's living folk art traditions.
For more information and updates on children's activities and school registration see the Kentucky Folklife Festival section of the Kentucky Historical Society's website.
