Student Technology Centers

General Information

WKU provides Student Technology Centers (general usage computer labs for all students) at seven locations on the main campus.  There is also one Student Technology Center (STC) at each regional campus location, and another at  South Campus location. STC labs are equipped with the latest hardware, software, scanners, and laser printing. The Mass Media and Technology Hall lab is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while classes are in session. STC labs are restricted for the use of current WKU students only, and you will use your NetID to log in.

General Lab Assistance

Lab Consultants are available to answer questions about lab equipment and printing, as well as troubleshoot technical problems. They are not allowed to help with homework assignments or answer questions about other software not on Student Technology Center computers.

Printing

Laser printing is free, up to the amount of your printing allocation for each year. For details, see the Lab Printing page.

Color printing is available in Grise 239, Helm 205, MMTH 145, and South Campus lab. It costs 50 cents per page. You can use Big Red Dollars and Personal Print Value, available through the kiosk machine in MMTH lab.

Scanners

Scanners are available at each STC Lab. Work stations with scanners are reserved for scanning use only.  Click here for scanning instruction.

ADA Accessibility

Each STC is equipped with ADA compliant work stations. Specialized software such as JAWS and Read & Write Gold are available. When necessary, patrons will be asked to relocate so that the ADA work station may be used by patrons who need to use it.

Macintosh Computers

Macintosh computers are available for use in the MMTH Lab, Helm 205, Grise 239, TCCW 204, and South Campus Lab. Click here for the list of Macintosh software.

Collaboration Area

There are four collaboration rooms located in Helm Room 205. The collaboration areas are designed for small group work, seating 3 to 5 students. The rooms contain a Dell computer with a 42" video display. Room is available on a first come first serve basis, for a two hour time interval. Contact the Helm STC at 745-4653 for more information .
