Blackboard Organization Sites
Terms of Service and Request Form
- Please see the associated FAQs for information about organizations in Blackboard; the Blackboard services that are available to organizations; how to determine whether a Blackboard site will be useful for your organization, etc.
- Every Blackboard organization must have a WKU faculty or staff leader. If an organization’s faculty/staff leader leaves, the organization must designate another faculty/staff leader. This request form may only be completed by a WKU faculty or staff member.
- Faculty/staff organization leaders completing this request form will be required to complete a short online training workshop via Blackboard in order to become familiar with the Blackboard organization tools. The same training is recommended for any individual who has the role of Leader, Assistant, Organization Builder, or Grader within a Blackboard organization.
- Blackboard organization sites are public web sites on a WKU server and are governed by WKU policies, particularly the Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy.
Please note the following requirement from the “Acceptable Use” portion of the World Wide Web Publishing Policy: “Individuals and organizations are reminded that their pages may be viewed by any person with network access, on- or off-campus, and should always be in good taste. Any statement, act, or offer which could lead to criminal or civil action if made in public, over a telephone, or through the mail should be viewed as equally subject to legal action if made over the Internet.”
Please also note this important restriction from the Computing Ethics Policy: “Downloading or sharing copyrighted files outside of the ‘fair use’ guidelines or without the author’s permission” is prohibited.
Violating these restrictions by sharing copyrighted files (including music and media files) or by placing objectionable or criminal content on a Blackboard organization site will constitute grounds to remove content and/or close the organization’s Blackboard site.
