Welcome to the

Institute for Citizenship & Social Responsibility

The Institute for Citizenship & Social Responsibility (ICSR) is a member of the Department of Diversity & Community Studies. The ICSR creatively employs curriculum and programming to further WKU's mission of preparing students to be "productive, engaged, and socially responsible citizen-leaders." Toward that end, we also work to support faculty and staff building social justice and engagement through their research, curriculum development, service, stewardship, and student mentoring.

Co-curricular Programs

"I think that what draws me to ICSR courses is the community aspect.
Not only do the classes become like a community because they are so small, but we each reach beyond the classroom walls and learn to affect our community in positive ways.  I've taken a class on coalition building and a class on public problem solving. Both are going to be useful no matter what I do with my future." -Hillary, WKU Senior, Alvaton, KY
