Position: Research Associate / Full Professor of Chemistry

                  Full-Time, Tenured, 9-Month Position

                  Beginning July, 2011

Description: Tenure - track Associate / Full Professor position in the Chemistry Department within Ogden College & ICSET with expertise in several of the following areas: combustion, gasification, emissions, utilization of combustion by-products, alternative fuels, and thermal analysis. Will be required to teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes (on a special case by case basis); thus, proposal development, undergraduate/graduate applied research, curriculum development, public service, participation in professional associations, publications and presentations will be required. Additional responsibilities include student advisement, laboratory management, and participation in departmental and university committee assignments as required for tenure and promotion. This position is in conjunction with the Institute for Combustion Science and Environmental Technology, for which the candidate is expected to perform various functions to foster the research and development of the Institute, and in addition, will participate on matters concerning the operations of the Institute. Demonstrated proficiency in proposal development is a must. Must have the ability to promote and attract new clients, and projects to the institute, as well as maintain the current client base.

Required Qualifications: Earned Doctorate Degree, in the field of Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or closely related field. Candidate is expected to have demonstrated field experience, and documented ability to work in a team-oriented environment, capable of developing and maintaining partnerships in the discipline and industry. Strong command of verbal and written English skills. The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate coursework is mandatory. Because a large portion of the salary is contingent upon incoming revenues, this position must generate $500,000 – $1,000,000 in revenue (from grants/private industry contracts) for the institute, annually.

Desirable Qualifications: Earned Doctorate in a technical/ managerial field. Experience in teaching, mentoring, and research at the university level, proposal development, professional publications, and presentations, with professional certification(s) and built works. International experience. Proven ability to create a research oriented curriculum that produces technically competent personnel for the discipline. A research agenda must be identified within the discipline, and must align with the mission of ICSET.

 

Rank and Salary: Annual salary will be in the range of $100,000 - $120,000.
