Packets for 2009 Benefits Open Enrollment have been delivered through campus mail. Please review the 2009 Benefits Manual and other enclosed information carefully and take note of the following:
- There are NO benefit programs requiring 100% participation in open enrollment this year. ONLY those individuals making changes will need to complete paperwork:. For example:
- Changes to existing coverage selections (examples: moving from High to Standard Health Plan, adding/deleting dependents, increasing/decreasing optional life insurance amounts, etc)
- Enrolling in a program for the first time, such as Long-Term Care, Dental, Short-Term Disability, etc.
- Dropping existing coverage for any benefit plans
- Enrolling or continuing participation in the Flexible Spending Program. New forms are required annually for participation in the Voluntary Medical or Dependent Care FSA.
- NOTE: If you put your own money into a medical or dependent care flexible spending account you MUST re-enroll annually to continue participation. If you waive WKU's Health Plan and receive University funds in a flexible spending account you DO NOT need to re-enroll annually.
- The Annual Open Enrollment and Benefits Fair will be held Tuesday, November 11th and Wednesday, November 12th in Garrett Ballroom from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM both days.
- Please keep in mind that unless you have a qualified life event – that is, a marriage, divorce, birth, etc., you will not have another opportunity to make any changes to your insurance benefits until this time next year.
Representatives from the Department of Human Resources and WKU's Benefit and Retirement Vendors will be on-site to assist with any questions you may have. Educational sessions on a variety of topics related to benefits and retirement will be offered during the Benefits Fair on the 11th and 12th. Additional information will follow on the details of the sessions. Please contact a member of the Benefits Team at x 5-5346, x 5-5345, or x 5-6195 if you have any questions. |
