WKU Housing & Residence Life has a plethora of employment opportunities for you this Summer! We offer positions as Resident Assistants, Desk Clerks, Night Clerks, Central Office staff, Summer Conference staff, and Summer Conference Crew.
Applicant Requirements:
To be considered for summer employment, you must be in good judicial standing with the department and university, and have a 2.0 or above semester and cumulative GPA. A FAFSA must be on record by the time of active employment.
Resident Assistant
Resident Assistants are responsible for community development of a floor including programming, administration, crisis management, policy enforcement, and assisting residents with personal needs. The Resident Assistant also works the information desk in the Summer School Hall(s). Each Resident Assistant is required to be on call during the weeknights and weekends based on a rotating schedule. All Resident Assistants must live in the summer hall(s).
Remuneration: 15 hours a week at $7.25 an hour, a private room at a special housing rate.

Desk Clerk
The Desk Clerk posotion consists of working the information desk at the Summer School Hall(s). General work responsibilities include Summer School paperwork, checking guests in and out, checking out keys, answering the phone, and other customer service duties. The Desk Clerk staff covers most of the hours between 8:00 am - Midnight. There is one 37.5 hour position available.
Reumuneration: $7.25 an hour, a reduced summer rate of one half the regular rate.

Night Clerk
The Night Clerk position consists of working the information desk during the hours of Midnight to 8:00 am. General work responsibitlities include checking guests in and out, checking out keys, locking lobby doors, answering the phone and other customer service duties. There are four positions available.
Remuneration: $7.25 an hour, and a reduced summer rate of one half the regular rate.

Housing & Residence Life Central Office
Front Office Position
The student office position consists of working in the central office (Southwest Hall) from 7:30 am - 3:00 pm Monday - Friday. General work responsiblities include filing, answering telephones, preparing bulk mailings, writing receipts, providing quality customer service, taking Summer School payments, and other administrative duties. The position is for 37.5 hours per week with one hour for lunch. This is a full-time positioin for the summer. Classes are not permitted.
Remuneration: $7.25 an hour, and a reduced summer rate of one half the regular rate.

The Summer Conference Program is designed to house visiting camps of predominatnely high school students in selected residence halls during the summer break. The staff is responsible for working the information desk, maintaining the check-in/check-out process while the camps are on campus, and providing quality customer service. The desks in the conference buildings are open for the duration of the camp. Desk workers may be required to work morning, evening, or late night shifts since the desk is open 24-hours a day. When the camps are not in session, the staff generally works in the residence halls preparing them for the Fall Semester. This may include, but is not limited to, moving furniture, re-setting buildings, and delivering equipment.
Remuneration: $7.25 an hour, and a reduced summer rate of one half the regular rate.

Summer Conference Crew
The crew position consists of working in the residences halls from 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday - Friday. The crew generally works from May 17 until mid August. General work responsibilities include moving furniture, making deliveries, and conducting inventories. The numbers of crew positions are limited.
Remuneration: $7.25 an hour, and a reduced summer rate of one half the regular rate.
