It's time to Get Off the Bench! Every August, M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan participants "blitz" Bowling Green, providing three hours of service to local non-profit agencies during the campus' largest community service event: Big Red's Blitz! Volunteers, known as "Blitzers," are sent out into the community in groups of 10-20 to work alongside Big Red, Western Leaders, and fellow classmates completing various service projects. Whether they're sorting items at The Salvation Army, cleaning up local parks and wooded areas with Bowling Green Public Works, pulling invasive species at Lost River Cave, organizing building materials with Habitat for Humanity, or painting picnic tables at Potter Children's Home, Blitzers are choosing to "get off the bench" and engage in their community! Big Red's Blitz provides a great opportunity for students to develop relationships with their classmates and form connections with community leaders, while gaining an appreciation for service and positively impacting the Bowling Green Community.
