The Gateway Community

The Gateway Community is Western’s academic and social transitions community for first-year students. The mission of the Gateway Community is to provide year-long learning opportunities, activities, and support for first-year students. Gateway is a program specifically designed for traditional freshmen who wish to build a solid foundation for success while at WKU.

Studies show that students who live on campus surpass their off-campus counterparts academically. By participating in Gateway, students can further enhance their ability to be successful at WKU.

Gateway is a comprehensive program involving many areas of the University working collaboratively to help ensure the success of our students. The Academic and Student Affairs divisions work diligently in creating Gateway to foster a seamless approach to student learning and development.
