Title
Admissions Counselor
My Role in the Honors College
I visit high schools and college fairs to share with high school students how amazing the Honors College at WKU is! I also advise the HonorsToppers, the student ambassadors of the Honors College, and the WKU chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, our freshmen honors society. I’ll try to convince you to go to Harlaxton and apply for a Fulbright grant if you let me!
Educational Background
I graduated from the Honors Program at WKU with a B.A. in English Literature and News/Editorial Journalism. I spent a wonderful fall semester at Harlaxton College studying British history and poetry. After graduation, I spent a year in Cheonan, South Korea teaching English through a Fulbright Grant.
Hometown
Louisville, Kentucky
Hobbies and Interests
Travel, backpacking, live music, reading and writing, and attempts at cooking and baking
What Brought me to the HC
While in Korea, I couldn’t stop talking about how grateful I was to my alma mater for all the support and encouragement they offered me. My students knew Big Red as the plush toy who accompanied me to class and occasionally flew around the room to call on students. When I discovered the Admissions Counselor position and realized I could turn my proud recognition of the Honors College into a job, I jumped at the chance!
A Little About Myself
According to Myers Briggs, I am an ENFP. I’m happiest with close friends and family gathered around a dinner table or campfire. I love hanging out with my sweetheart schipperke mix, Reba, and taking classes on literature and writing, and I think riding through a carwash is the best stress relief ever!
