My Role in the Honors College
I work as the academic advisor for freshmen and sophomores in the Honors College. As study abroad is my primary area of interest, I sometimes even refer to myself as the college’s ‘Study Abroad Specialist.’ I also serve as the advisor for the Honors Abroad Alumni, our student organization for those preparing to go or returning from study abroad.
I received bachelor’s degrees in biology and health services from University of Southern Indiana in 2008. I am currently pursuing my master’s in student affairs in higher education at WKU and will graduate in May, 2012.
Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy reading new and interesting books, traveling to parts of the world off the beaten path, designing artsy creations through scrapbooking and sewing, dining on international cuisine as well as studying languages and cultures different from my own.
What Brought Me to the HC
I sought out the opportunity to work in the Honors College, knowing it would provide me with a challenging position in which my education, international experience and scholarship would be beneficial.
A Little About Myself
Born and raised in a small town in Kentucky, I never imagined I would one day travel the world. I have been very blessed in my life to have seen the pyramids of Giza, climbed Mt. Sinai, prayed at the Western Wall, hiked in the mountains of Haiti, and even gazed upon the magnificent Roman Coliseum. I have also studied Arabic, Chinese and French. I worked in a variety of interesting jobs related to public health, such as a pharmacy technician and a health inspector, before finding my way to higher education. I especially enjoy being involved in the university and helping students on their own journey, during college and beyond. I am very excited to now be a part of the Honors College at WKU!
