Keith Lancaster Completes 2011-2012 WKU Staff Leadership Program

The Staff Leadership Class of 2011-2012 completed their training last week with a “graduation” presentation that included guest speakers Ann Mead and Tamela Smith. Keith Lancaster, WKUHS System Administrator was a member of the class.
When asked about the program, Keith said, “Staff Leadership was a great experience for me. I enjoyed getting to know nineteen other staff members from different departments and geographical locations. The exercises allowed us to get to know each other better and to better understand our shared values. I think that the Ropes Course was everyone’s favorite. It embodies the spirit of the program in that it challenges the participants to think outside the box, push themselves beyond their comfort zone, trust their teammates and have faith in their own abilities.
“A main theme of the program is that anyone can be a leader. Your attitude and your approach to how you meet your responsibilities can make you a leader and agent of change, regardless of your job title, your position on the organizations chart or the size of your staff. I highly recommend the program to any WKU staff member that wants to challenge themselves and take on a larger role in their organization.”
The Staff Leadership Institute seeks to enhance job performance and personal development skills while challenging the spirit of each individual who participates. Sponsored by the Staff Council and Human Resources and coordinated by the Continuing Education office, this annual program is open to any staff member of WKU.
